SIQI QIN
SIQI QIN (b. 1998)
A cross-cultural visual artist born in China, educated in the U.S. for a decade, and now based in Beijing and New York.
Before becoming an artist, she was an elite competitive swimmer, winning multiple championships in swimming tournaments across China and the U.S. This athletic career endowed her with extraordinary perseverance and a keen sensitivity to the aesthetics of the body, which became the foundation of her artistic practice.
SIQI holds an MPS in Photography from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York, where she systematically studied image-making. Her artistic practice deftly blends the poetic essence of Asian philosophy with contemporary Western visual language, using the camera as a medium to explore the complex dimensions of humanity, emotion, and desire through symbolic dialogues between the human form and floral elements.
In her works, SIQI employs experimental photographic techniques and theatrical staging, merging the "negative space" of Eastern aesthetics with the tension of Western expressionism to create visually poetic and psychologically suggestive narratives. Her art is not merely a pursuit of form but a philosophical meditation on human nature, emotion, and the vitality of life.
